Rag Ribbon Wreath

I've been pining over the rag ribbon wreaths on Pinterest for a while now, but it wasn't until yesterday that I decided it was time to make my own. One of my fav bloggers AP, was tweeting about making one for her momma, and then making one for a giveaway on her blog. I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands since I couldn't get her to commit to rigging the giveaway so I'd win it ;) So yesterday, I text my friend Ashley and said "Let's get our craft on tonight, I have a project for us!" She made the most adorable wreath with yarn and felt. It might be one of my next wreath making projects!

I had pinned this wreath to Pinterest, and was lusting after the colors, but once I saw AP's fall wreath, I knew that's what I should make!

LOVE these colors. I must make something similar for next Spring/Summer.

AP's fall wreath.

Here is my wreath (pardon my shiesty cell phone pic)

Mine is more of a brown/orange/green animal print theme. I used brown and white zebra print ribbon, and brown and tan giraffe ribbon.

Now for the best part, here is a link to AP's awesome tutorial. These really are fairly simple, just time consuming with cutting and tying all the ribbon. If you're thinking about making one, you really should give it a shot. I LOVE how mine turned out. You don't have to put a bow or any other decor on it (I spray painted a chipboard 'H' for mine), you could always leave it plain if you'd like. Either way I think they're so fun! I definitely think my girlfriends and I will be having another wreath crafting night SOON!!

P.S. Here is Ashley's yarn/felt flower wreath... The photo was taken with her phone so you can't tell the colors. It is a mustard yellow color (great for fall), and then grey, cream and red flowers, with cream lace as the hanger. Here is a tutorial that she used.

P.P.S. Pinterest is a sickness, and I'm obsessed! I think I'll probably end up with a wreath for EVERY door in our house ;)

I love it so SO much!! i seriously need a Wreath-Making Intervention. I'm starting number THREE tomorrow. It's really, really bad. I hate to say it, but a lot of women in my life will be getting them as Christmas presents! I have grand ideas for whites and ivory and laces for a "winter" one.. and then of course the res and greens and golds for Christmas! Somebody stop me. Seriously. I'm about to dip into our grocery budget.. LOL :) Love the wreath.. it looks SO great! And thanks for the link love!

Thank you! Where did you get your ribbon?? Please remember we have no fabric store...Walmart is about it. I hope I can find it there! Did you use a wire wreath? I really don't think they have those. I am going to have to wait until I go to the city this weekend and get all of my supplies haha!

I didn't read AP's post (sorry AP!!) because I'm so not crafty. But these are seriously cute....and I could use a cute new wreath. Maybe I will give it a whirl!

So THAT's what you were at the HobLob last night! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I imagine you certainly know your way around that place! These wreaths are actually next on my list. I really want to make a KU one to last me through football and basketball season. Love the yarn wreaths too! How long do you think it took from beginning to end for both types?

Way to go!! It looks so CUTE and great! Knowing how frugal you are, wondering if you might tell me how much it all cost? Unless you had the super cute ribbon laying around! I know ribbon can be a bit pricey, so I'm curious before I get my heart set on making one for us too!

I love wreaths. I decided the one crafty thing I want to do is make wreaths. So far I have made zero. I need to get a move on.

I love all the cute wreaths you posted.

While I was on pinterest the other day I saw a tutorial for a wreathe using a coat hanger instead of the actual medal wreath. Do you think it would work??
